Take action on a Check-in (react, comment, flag, pass up, add to 1-on-1)

When viewing a direct report's submitted Check-in, you can take several actions on individual answers or on the Check-in as a whole. Each action is available directly from the Check-in review surface.

Before You Begin

You must have the Check-in open in review mode. See Access and review a direct report's Check-in for how to navigate to a Check-in.

Steps

React to an answer with an emoji

  1. Locate the answer you want to react to.
  2. Click the emoji icon to the right of the answer.
  3. Select an emoji from the picker.

Comment on an answer

  1. Click the chat bubble icon to the right of any answer.
  2. Type your comment in the text field.
  3. To tag someone, type @ followed by their name, a group name, or all.
  4. Submit the comment.

Pass an answer up to your manager

  1. Click ... to the right of the answer or comment.
  2. Select Pass up.

The answer will appear on your own Check-in for your manager to see.

Add an answer to your 1-on-1 agenda

  1. Click ... to the right of the answer or comment.
  2. Select Add to 1-on-1.
  3. Enter a clear title for the talking point.

The item appears in the Talking points section of your 1-on-1 agenda.

Add an answer to Wins & Challenges

  1. Click ... to the right of the answer.
  2. Select Add to Wins & Challenges.
  3. Choose Win or Challenge.

The item saves to the direct report's profile page. It is visible only to you and appears in Best-Self Review® resources.

Flag an answer for follow-up

  1. Click ... to the right of the answer.
  2. Select Flag for follow-up.

Flagged items appear under the Follow-ups tab on the Check-ins page.

Share an answer via email

  1. Click ... to the right of the answer.
  2. Select Share via email.
  3. Customize the email as needed and send.

This option is available only if your company has email sharing enabled. Recipients without access to the full Check-in see only the shared answer — not comments or other answers.

Give a High Five

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the Check-in.
  2. Click the High Five option.
  3. Complete and send the High Five.

Write a growth response

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the Check-in.
  2. Click into the Help your direct report grow section.
  3. Write your overall response or growth feedback.
  4. Save the response.

Your direct report can see this feedback in their Check-in.
