Amaya — Feature Overview

Amaya is an AI assistant that answers natural-language questions about your organization’s people data. HR Admins can ask free-form questions and receive plain-language responses drawn from 15Five data, without building custom reports.

Amaya is part of 15Five’s connected AI system. It draws from the same platform data that powers Focus Briefs and AI-Assisted Reviews. See How 15Five AI works together for how data flows between capabilities.

Amaya and the Insights Dashboard are two interfaces to the same diagnostic intelligence layer. The Insights Dashboard surfaces curated data stories automatically. Amaya lets you explore the same data through natural-language questions. See When should I use Amaya vs. the Insights Dashboard? for guidance on when to use each.

Feature Structure

Open Amaya from the left-hand navigation or from the Home page. It consists of:

  • A question input bar where you type or select a question
  • A response panel that returns analysis in plain language
  • Suggested follow-up questions that Amaya surfaces after each response
  • A data attribution layer that shows sources and citations for a response, where applicable
  • A sidebar of recent conversations, where you can rename, pin, delete, and search your conversations
  • File attachments: attach files to a message with the + button or by drag and drop
  • File export: turn an answer into a CSV, Excel, Word, Markdown, or JSON file

Data Sources

Amaya generates insights using data from the following 15Five features when they are enabled and accessible in your account:

  • Engagement surveys — limited to eNPS scores and quantitative statement-level responses. Open-text feedback from engagement surveys is not currently available to Amaya.
  • Custom surveys: results from custom Engage surveys. Answers follow each survey's own questions and order. Results respect the campaign's minimum response count.
  • Performance Reviews — quantitative and open-text responses
  • Turnover — based on employee termination date and attributes
  • Check-ins and 1-on-1s — high-level usage signals
  • Employee attributes — team, department, tenure, and role
  • 15Five platform knowledge — a curated library that enables Amaya to reason about how different parts of the platform connect and interpret your data in context
  • Attached files: files you attach to a conversation
  • 15Five Help Center: Help Center content, used to answer how-to questions about using 15Five

Key Rules

  • Amaya is available to HR Admins only.
  • Amaya requires the Perform or Total Platform pricing plan.
  • Amaya requires 15Five AI features to be enabled in Feature Settings. If Amaya is visible but not responding, confirm AI features are active. See Configure 15Five AI feature settings.
  • Insights reflect the quality and completeness of the underlying data in your account. Small data sets may produce limited results.
  • Both Amaya and the Insights Dashboard draw from the same 15Five data sources.
  • Amaya uses your existing 15Five permissions. It never shows data you could not already see in 15Five.
  • Amaya answers how-to questions about using 15Five from Help Center content. If Amaya hands your question to Fin, Fin does not receive your Amaya conversation.
  • Amaya does not currently analyze open-text or free-form responses from engagement surveys. For AI-generated themes from engagement survey open-text feedback, see the AI Synthesized Feedback Insights feature in Apply Filters in the Engagement Feedback Report.

What You Can Do

Explore Data

  • Ask questions such as “What’s our headcount by department?” or “Which factors are most strongly influencing engagement?”
  • Compare engagement or performance signals across teams and departments
  • Surface themes, sentiment, and representative quotes from open-text responses in performance reviews (open-text analysis is not available for engagement surveys, Check-ins, or 1-on-1s)

Understand Results

  • Amaya identifies relevant data sources, analyzes trends and outliers, and returns a plain-language response
  • Where applicable, a response shows its sources and citations, so you can follow it back to the underlying record. See Where do Amaya's answers come from?.
  • Amaya surfaces follow-up questions to support deeper exploration

Download Results

  • Download charts generated by Amaya as PNG images for use in presentations and reports.
  • Export table results as CSV files for further analysis in Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Copy tables directly to your clipboard while preserving rows and columns for easy pasting into spreadsheets.
  • Download and copy actions are available when you hover over a chart or table in an Amaya response or the Insights Dashboard drill-down view.
  • Ask Amaya to turn an answer into a CSV, Excel, Word, Markdown, or JSON file. Files stay with the conversation. See Export an Amaya answer to a file.
