Use this article to convert an existing key result into a child objective when that key result requires its own key results. When complete, the converted item appears nested under the parent objective as a child objective.
Before You Begin
- You must have permission to edit the objective. See Role-based permissions for Objectives for details.
- Objectives must be enabled for your account. See Enable or disable Objectives.
- This feature is available on the Perform, Legacy Focus, and Total Platform packages.
Important: Converting a key result to a child objective cannot be undone. See for the manual workaround.
Steps
- Go to Objectives in the left-hand navigation.
- Use the filters at the top of the page to locate the objective containing the key result you want to convert.
- Click the name of the objective to open its details page.
- Click ... to the right of the key result you want to convert.
- Select Convert to child objective from the dropdown menu.
- Fill in all required fields for the new child objective, including its name and key results.

- Click Create objective.
What Success Looks Like
The converted key result no longer appears in the parent objective's key results list. It now appears nested directly below the parent objective as a child objective.
If Something Goes Wrong
