Prepare your account before launching Career Hub

Complete these steps before enabling Career Hub company-wide to ensure employees have accurate job descriptions, configured strengths options, and available career paths when they first access the feature.

Before You Begin

  • You must have account admin access in 15Five.
  • Career Hub must not yet be enabled. Complete these steps first, then enable the feature.

Steps

1. Verify job titles in employee profiles

  1. Go to Settings and export a CSV of all individual profiles.
  2. Check the job_title column for each person.
  3. Correct any inaccurate job titles directly in the CSV.
  4. Re-import the updated CSV. Changes apply immediately.

Job descriptions uploaded in bulk match to a person's Career Hub only when the job title in their profile matches the CSV import exactly.

2. Bulk upload job descriptions and responsibilities

Managers can add job descriptions one-off for direct reports. Only account admins can bulk upload.

  1. Click the Settings gear in the bottom-left corner of your 15Five account.
  2. Select Features from the dropdown menu.
  3. Scroll down and click Career Hub.
  4. Click Create new import.
  5. Click Download template to download the fillable CSV template.
  6. Fill in the jobtitle, jobdescription, and responsibilities columns for all roles.
  7. Save the completed CSV in Unicode (UTF-8) format.
  8. Click Create new import and upload your saved file.
  9. Review the upload summary, then click Publish to import responsibilities.

Column descriptions and examples appear in the Download template tab of the CSV.

3. Select your strengths assessments

  1. Identify which strengths assessments you want employees to complete before launch.
  2. Confirm whether you will use the default VIA Character Strengths assessment, additional assessments, or both.
  3. If your organization uses Gallup CliftonStrengths, contact your CSM or support@15five.com to enable it in Career Hub. CliftonStrengths is a paid assessment and is not included by default.

Employees can add strengths from non-default assessments one-off using the Additional tab in the Strengths section.

4. Assign Best-Self Kickoffs

  1. Assign Best-Self Kickoff conversations to managers for completion with each direct report before launch.

Best-Self Kickoff results give employees context that helps them fill out Career Hub more effectively.

5. Configure competencies and paths

  1. Upload competencies by following the steps in the "Upload and manage competencies" article.
  2. Upload career paths by following the steps in the "Career Paths: 101" article.
  3. Go to Settings > Features > Competencies and Paths.
  4. Open the Settings tab and enable Paths and Skills visibility.

Paths and Skills will not appear in Career Hub unless visibility is enabled in Competencies and Paths feature settings.

If your organization is not ready to use Career Paths, go to Settings > Features > Career Hub, open the Settings tab, and paste a URL to an external career framework document. Employees will see a View your company's roles button linking to that document.
