Set Visibility on an Objective

Use this procedure to set who can view an objective and its key results when creating or editing an objective in 15Five.

Before You Begin

  • You must have access to the Objectives feature (available on Focus and Total Platform packages).
  • Your account admin controls which visibility options are available. If you cannot see all three options, contact your admin to update Objectives feature settings.
  • Visibility applies to the entire objective. Key results inherit the same setting and cannot be set independently.

Steps

  1. Open an existing objective or start creating a new one.
  2. Locate the Privacy field in the objective form.
  3. Select one of the following options:

- Public — visible to everyone in the company. - 15Five permissions — visible to anyone who can view your Check-ins. - Specific people — visible only to the owner, their manager, and any added individuals or groups.

  1. If you selected Specific people, review the auto-populated owner and manager names.
  2. Add any additional individuals or groups to the Specific people field, if needed.
  3. Leave the field as-is if you want only yourself and your direct manager to have access.
  4. Save or update the objective.

If Something Goes Wrong

Issue Check Fix

A key result has different visibility than expected Visibility is set at the objective level only Change the objective's visibility setting; key results will update to match
A Global Objective Viewer can see a Specific people objective Global Objective Viewers have view access to all objectives regardless of setting This is expected behavior; contact your admin to review Global Objective Viewer assignments
Changing to Public did not affect existing private objectives Privacy changes are not retroactive Update each previously private objective individually
