Set up and configure Focus Briefs (Admin)

HR Admins and Company Admins configure Focus Briefs from the Agents Hub. Setup involves three areas: connecting integrations, configuring brief settings, and adding context. Once configured, Focus Briefs generate and deliver automatically on the schedule you set.

Before you begin

  • You must be an HR Admin or Company Admin.
  • Required access to Agents Hub
  • This feature is available in the Perform and Total Platform pricing packages.
  • For the richest briefs, connect work system integrations before enabling Focus Briefs. See Connect work system integrations (Admin).

Note: To ensure the highest level of security, 15Five is continually investing in our overall information security program, resources, and expertise. To review 15Five's security documents, and how we handle your company data, see our Trust Website.

Enable Focus Briefs

  1. Select Agents in the left navigation.
  2. Click Agents Hub.
  3. On the Overview tab, find the Focus Brief Agent.
  4. Click Set up on the Focus Brief card.
  5. Configure the settings described below.

Configure brief settings

Audience

Choose who receives the brief:

  • All employees — every employee in the account receives a brief
  • All managers — every manager in the account receives a brief
  • Include/exclude specific people or groups — narrow the audience by including only specific people or groups, or by excluding specific people or groups from the full audience

Schedule

Set the day and time the brief is sent. Briefs are delivered on this day each period.

Cadence

Choose how often briefs are delivered:

  • Weekly — briefs are generated and delivered every week
  • Bi-weekly — briefs are generated and delivered every two weeks

Start date

Set the date the brief begins sending. Briefs start delivering on this date according to the configured schedule and cadence.

Connect integrations

The depth and accuracy of a Focus Brief depends on what data is available. Admins should connect all relevant work systems across the organization — the more complete the picture, the more useful the brief.

Work system integrations bring in real-time activity signals from tools like Slack, Google Drive, Jira, and Google Calendar. 15Five data (performance reviews, 1:1 notes, check-ins, engagement signals, goals, and IDPs) is always available because it is native to the platform.

To connect integrations, go to the Integrations tab in the Agents Hub. See Connect work system integrations (Admin) for detailed instructions.

If an integration requires IT or security approval, use the Assign option to route it to the right person. See Assign a work system integration to IT (Admin).

Add context

The Focus Brief gets sharper with more context. Beyond integrations and 15Five data, three layers of context can be added directly:

  • Company Context — set by HR Admins in the Agents Hub, Context tab. See Add and manage Company Context (Admin).
  • Team context — added by managers through the Add Context modal or My Context in the platform.
  • Individual context — added by any employee through the Add Context modal or My Context. See Add and manage My Context.

Important: Admins control the inputs, not the content. The AI generates the brief based on available data. There is no option to edit the tone, format, or specific wording of a brief at this time.

If Something Goes Wrong

Issue Check Fix
Employee is not receiving their brief Audience settings may exclude them Confirm they are included in the audience (not excluded)
Brief is not being delivered at all Focus Brief may be disabled Check that the Focus Brief is enabled in the Agents Hub
Brief is not arriving on the expected day Schedule or start date may be misconfigured Verify the schedule, cadence, and start date settings
Brief content seems thin or generic Insufficient data for meaningful insights Connect more integrations, encourage employees to add My Context, verify the employee has enough 15Five activity

Note: If an individual does not have enough data from 15Five and connected integrations to create meaningful insights, a brief will not be sent for that person.
