Account Admins and Managers of Managers can create actions or discussions and assign them to someone else using the Manage actions tab. The assigned owner sees the item on their Actions List immediately after creation.
Before You Begin
- You must be an Account Admin or a Manager of Managers.
- Account Admins can create actions for anyone in the organization.
- Managers of Managers can create actions for anyone in their hierarchy only.
Steps
- Click Actions in 15Five's main left-hand navigation.
- Click the Manage actions tab at the top of the page.
- Click +Create Action.
- Type your action or discussion text in the field. Rich-text formatting is supported.
- Select an Action type: action or discussion.
- Click the + icon in the bottom right corner of the action box.
- Select an owner — the person responsible for completing the action.
- Optionally, select an impacted person involved in the completion.
- Click the calendar icon to set a due date.
- To restrict visibility, click the lock icon to mark the action as private.
- To add the action to a 1-on-1 agenda, click the dialogue box icon. This option requires an impacted person to be assigned.
- To attach a file, click the paperclip icon and select a file from your computer.
- Press Enter on your keyboard to save the action.
A notification confirms the action was created. The action appears on the owner's Actions List and, unless marked private, on the impacted person's Actions List. If you added it to a 1-on-1 agenda, it appears there as well.
If Something Goes Wrong
| Issue | Check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Manage actions tab is not visible | Confirm your role is Account Admin or Manager of Managers | Contact your Account Admin to verify your role assignment |
| A specific person does not appear in the owner selector | Confirm the person is within your hierarchy (Managers of Managers) or your organization (Account Admins) | Account Admins have no hierarchy restriction; Managers of Managers cannot assign outside their hierarchy |
| Dialogue box icon is greyed out | Check whether an impacted person is assigned | Assign an impacted person before adding the action to a 1-on-1 agenda |
| Action does not appear on the owner's Actions List | Check whether the action was marked as private | Remove the private setting or notify the owner that private actions are only visible to the creator |
