Permanently delete an objective you have permission to manage. The objective is removed from all places in 15Five immediately upon deletion.
Note: Deletion is permanent. If you want to retain a record of the objective, use archive or close instead. See .
Before You Begin
- You must have permission to manage the objective you want to delete. See Role-based permissions for Objectives.
Steps
- Go to Objectives in the left-hand navigation.
- On the All Objectives page, apply filters to locate the objective you want to delete.
- Click the objective name to open its details page.
- Click the gear icon, then click Delete objective.
- In the confirmation popup, check all confirmation boxes.
- Click Yes. Delete objective.
What Success Looks Like
The objective no longer appears anywhere in 15Five.
15Five sends the following email notifications automatically:
- Objective owner and their manager receive: Subject: An objective has been deleted
- All followers of the objective receive: Subject: An objective you were following has been deleted
If Something Goes Wrong

| Delete objective option does not appear in the gear menu | Confirm you have manage permissions for this objective | Ask the objective owner or an admin to delete it, or request that your permissions be updated |
| Confirmation checkboxes are greyed out or unresponsive | Check for browser extensions blocking interactive elements | Disable extensions or try a different browser, then repeat the steps |
| Objective still appears after deletion | Hard-refresh the page (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R) | If the objective still appears after refreshing, contact 15Five Support |
