Close an objective

Note: Your organization may have renamed this feature. If you don't see "Objectives" in your navigation, check with your admin for the name used in your account.

Closing an objective locks its final completion percentage and key result progress, and prevents further changes. You can optionally rate and reflect on the objective when closing it.

You must have permission to manage an objective to close it.

Before You Begin

Steps

  1. Go to Objectives in the left-hand navigation.
  2. On the All Objectives page, search or filter to find the objective you want to close.
  3. Click the objective name to open its details page.
  4. Click the gear icon, then click Close objective.
  5. In the popup, fill out the assessment and reflection fields.
  6. Click Post assessment to save your assessment, or click Skip to close the objective without an assessment.

What Happens After Closing

The objective status changes to closed. If your organization uses Check-ins, the objective remains visible on the Check-in for one additional Check-in period in a greyed-out state, so your manager can see it was closed.

Your assessment appears in the objective's activity feed. Anyone with permission to view the objective can see it.

Notifications sent when an objective is closed:

  • Objective owner — receives an email with subject: Your objective has been closed
  • Objective owner's manager — receives an email with subject: Your direct report's objective has been closed
  • Followers — each follower receives an email with subject: An objective you are following has been closed
