If an objective is no longer relevant, but you want to keep a paper trail of it in 15Five, or when an objective is getting put on a temporary hiatus, you can archive it. Archiving an objective holds the last known status, including the overall completion percentage and key result progress, and prevents any updates from being made. You can reopen an archived objective in the future if need be.

How to archive an objective 🧑💻

You can only archive an objective that you have permission to manage.
- Click on Objectives in 15Five's main, left-hand navigation.
- You'll land on the 'All objectives' page. From here, apply filters to find the objective you want to archive.
- Click on the name of the objective you want to archive to open the details page.
- Click on the gear icon and then click Archive objective.
- Read the pop-up and confirm that the objective should be archived, then click Archive.
What happens next? 🐾
When you archive an objective it will continue to appear on your Check-in with an "Archived" label for one cycle before being removed.
An email notification similar to the one below will also be sent to you and your manager.

- Closing an objective does the same thing as archiving it, but also allows you to rate and reflect on its performance. This process is typically used when you're done working on an objective and want to assess it.
