Change a manager's Kona coaching focus area

Use this article to update a manager's AI coaching focus area from the Kona Usage Report.

Before You Begin

  • You must have an HR Admin or Account Admin role.
  • Your organization must have an active Kona license.
  • The manager must have Kona access enabled and onboarding completed.

Steps

  1. Go to Coaching > AI Coach — Kona in the left navigation.
  2. Scroll to the Manager-Level Details section.
  3. Locate the manager whose focus area you want to change.
  4. Click the Focus area value in the manager's row.
  5. Select a new coaching focus area from the dropdown.
  6. Click Save.

What Success Looks Like

The manager's row in the Manager-Level Details section displays the updated focus area. Future coaching insights delivered to the manager reflect the new focus area.

If Something Goes Wrong

Issue Check Fix
Focus area field is not clickable Confirm the manager has completed Kona onboarding Check the Set up status column; if onboarding is incomplete, the manager must finish setup first
New focus area does not appear in the dropdown The available focus areas are determined by your Kona configuration Contact Kona support if an expected focus area is missing
Manager's coaching insights still reflect the old focus area Changes may take up to one coaching cycle to take effect Wait for the next scheduled 1-on-1 cycle and verify the updated insights
