Understand the Overview tab in a review cycle

> Note: Your organization may have renamed the Best-Self Review® feature. If you don't see "Best-Self Review" in your navigation, check with your admin for the name used in your account.

The Overview tab gives admins, managers, and participants a snapshot of a review cycle's status, tasks, and participant progress. What you see depends on your role in the cycle.

Note: Only cycle participants see an Overview tab. If a person writes reviews but is not a participant, they see only the Write reviews tab.

To reach the Overview tab, go to Reviews in the left navigation, then click the name of the cycle. Active cycles appear under Active review cycles. The Overview tab opens automatically.

Feature Structure

The Overview tab contains up to five sections. Each section is visible only to the roles listed.

Review Cycle Information

Visible to: Review admins and cycle collaborators.

This section displays:

  • Creator of the review cycle
  • Start date, end date, and status (active or ended)
  • Days remaining
  • Number of participants (links to the full participant list)
  • Number of review admins (links to the full review admin list)

From this section, click Download to access cycle-specific reports. Click the settings gear to edit the cycle, clone the cycle, or manage participants.

Review To-Dos

Visible to: All review cycle participants, regardless of role.

This section lists the tasks you have left to complete in the review cycle.

Participant Filter

Visible to: Review admins, cycle collaborators, and managers of review cycle participants.

This filter controls which participants appear in the Cycle Participants list and Progress tracker sections below.

Filter options:

  • Participant / Review writer
  • Everyone / My team / Me
  • Everyone / Group / Manager / Hierarchy

Review admins and cycle collaborators see the Everyone option. Managers see the My team option. Neither option appears for roles without that access level.

Progress Tracker

Visible to: Review admins and cycle collaborators.

The Progress tracker shows overall submission progress for the cycle. The Total reviews submitted percentage reflects submitted reviews out of all possible reviews.

Expand Review milestones to see due dates for each review step and the completion percentage per step. From this section, admins and collaborators can bulk nudge participants who have not completed a specific step.

Cycle Participants List

Visible to: Review admins, cycle collaborators, and managers of review cycle participants.

This section lists all participants who:

  1. Match the filters selected in the Participant filter section, and
  2. Have submitted results the viewer has permission to see.

Use the Review status filter at the top of the page to narrow the list by status:

  • No reviews submitted
  • Some reviews submitted
  • All reviews submitted
  • Results shared
  • Results shared & finalized
  • Calibrated

After filtering, use the Progress tracker to nudge only participants who match the current filter.

Click a participant's name or select View from the ... menu to open their review results. Review admins and cycle collaborators also see an Edit individual settings option in the ... menu. See Understand the Edit Individual Settings (EIS) page for details.

My Reviews

Visible to: Participants who do not have administrative roles in the review cycle.

Note: Review admins, cycle collaborators, and managers access their own review results through the Cycle Participants list, not this section.

This section shows:

  • The participant's assigned manager and additional manager (if applicable)
  • Review progress: how many of the total queued reviews about the participant have been submitted
  • Overall review status: no reviews submitted, some reviews submitted, all reviews submitted, results shared, or results shared & finalized

Click your name in this section to open the Write reviews tab and access the reviews you are responsible for writing.

Key Rules

  • Only cycle participants see the Overview tab. Non-participant review writers see only the Write reviews tab.
  • The Participant Filter, Progress Tracker, and Cycle Participants List are not visible to participants who lack admin or manager roles.
  • The gear icon does not appear for a participant until their results are shared and finalized.
