The Actions List on your 15Five homepage centralizes all tasks, conversations, and follow-ups you are responsible for in one place. This article explains the four categories of Actions and the types available within each.
> Note: Your organization may have renamed Best-Self Review® and Best-Self Kickoff. If you don't see these names in your navigation, check with your admin for the names used in your account.
Feature Structure
Actions are organized into four categories:
- User actions — Created manually by individuals or leaders
- System actions — Created automatically by 15Five, linked to other features
- Bulk actions — Assigned by leaders to managers in bulk
- Action Plan actions — Part of a strategic Action Plan targeting HR outcomes
All four categories appear in your Actions List on the homepage.
User Actions
User actions are created manually. There are three types:
Actions — Tasks you need to complete. Can be public or private. Actions can be added to 1-on-1 agendas as action items.
Discussions — Topics to reflect on or collaborate on with your team. Can be public or private. Discussions can be added to 1-on-1 agendas as talking points.
Blockers — Issues preventing you from completing work. When you create a Blocker:
- Your manager receives an immediate notification
- The Blocker is visible to you and your manager
- It is added to your current 1-on-1 as a talking point
See Create an action or discussion for yourself and Create an action or discussion for a team member for instructions.
System Actions
System actions are generated automatically by 15Five when activity in another feature requires your attention. Click the arrow to the left of a System action to open it. When you complete the activity, the System action is automatically marked complete and removed from your Actions List.
System actions that may appear in your list:
- Submit a Check-in — a Check-in is due
- Review a Check-in — a direct report has submitted a Check-in
- Complete an engagement survey — an active engagement campaign requires your response
- Complete a review — a review is due in an active performance review cycle
Bulk Actions
Bulk actions are created by account admins (for all managers) or managers of managers (for managers in their hierarchy) and assigned in bulk. See Assign bulk actions to managers for instructions.
Bulk action types that can be assigned to managers:
- Action Item — a task to complete
- Discussion — a talking point to discuss with direct reports in 1-on-1s or async
- Best-Self Kickoff — hold a Best-Self Kickoff meeting.
- Coaching Session — schedule a 1:1 coaching session with a 15Five certified coach. See Assign a 1:1 Coaching Session via an Action Plan.
- Complete Course — take a course from Transform's on-demand library. See Assign on-demand courses to managers via Action Plans.
- Complete Microlearning — take a Microlearning from the on-demand library. Microlearnings are short training modules focused on manager skills. See Microlearning — Feature Overview.
- Create Objective — create an Objective and Key Results (company, group, individual, or self-development). See Create an Objective in 15Five.
- Give Individual High Five — give a High Five to a team member. See Give a High Five from the High Fives Feed.
