15Five MCP: Feature Overview

Note: 15Five MCP is in a closed beta for early adopters. 15Five turns it on for each company in the beta. To ask about joining, contact 15Five Support.

15Five MCP lets the AI tool a person already uses, such as Claude or ChatGPT, work with their 15Five data. Each person connects their own AI tool with their own 15Five login. The AI tool reads only what that person can already see, and every answer links back to the 15Five record it came from.

Note: 15Five MCP lets your AI tool read your 15Five data, and make a limited set of changes when updates are turned on. AI tool connectors in Agents Hub work in the opposite direction: they bring AI usage data in to 15Five. For those, see Connected work tools: Feature Overview.

Feature Structure

Company settings

  • Access turns on 15Five MCP for the company. It lets connected AI tools read 15Five data. It is off until 15Five turns it on for the company.
  • Updates lets connected AI tools make a limited set of changes. It is a separate setting on top of Access, and it is off until 15Five turns it on for the company.

Personal connection

Each person connects their own AI tool to 15Five with their own 15Five login, using the connection address https://my.15five.com/mcp. The steps differ by AI tool. Each person also chooses, in their AI tool's own settings, which tool calls are always allowed, which they are asked about, and which are never used.

What a connected AI tool can read

  • Reviews: review cycles, completion, the reviews a person still owes, and submitted reviews they can see.
  • Objectives: objectives, key results, activity, alignment, and reports on status, ownership, and key result health.
  • Check-ins: check-in history and content, configured questions, completion, pulse, priorities, and per-question results for a team or the company.
  • 1-on-1s: only the 1-on-1s the person was part of. This covers who they meet with, the next meeting and how often they meet, the upcoming agenda, what was written, and Kona's notes and suggestions.
  • 1-on-1 cadence: counts and dates only, under the same permissions as the 1-on-1 report in 15Five.
  • High Fives: High Fives given and received by the people whose check-ins the person can see.
  • People: the person's own identity and reporting line, including their direct reports.

The other participant's private 1-on-1 notes are never returned.

What a connected AI tool can change

When Updates is on, a connected AI tool can make these changes. Each change is made as the person, only where 15Five already lets that person make it, and returns a link to the record.

  • Set the owner-set status on an objective to On track, Behind, or At risk.
  • Set the current value of a key result. This is refused when the key result syncs from Jira or Salesforce, or when its objective is closed, archived, or not yet started.
  • Add a talking point to a 1-on-1 the person is part of. The other participant sees it. If the pair has no upcoming 1-on-1, a new undated one is started, and the other person sees it.
  • Add an action item to an upcoming 1-on-1 the person is part of. The person owns the item, and the other participant sees it.
  • Save an answer on the person's own open check-in. It saves the answer but does not submit the check-in.

Key Rules

  • A connected AI tool never sees more than the person can. Access is limited to that person's 15Five permissions, and again to what the available tools expose.
  • Two people asking the same question can get different answers, because each answer follows the asker's own access.
  • Every tool returns a link back to the 15Five record it referenced, so the person can check it before acting.
  • Data is always live. Each tool call pulls the most recent data, with no cache and no sync delay.
  • Turning on Access does not allow changes. Changes need Updates turned on as well.
  • A connected AI tool cannot edit targets, descriptions, or dates. It cannot create or close anything, add check-in priorities, or change reviews or High Fives.
  • A person can disconnect at any time from their AI tool.
  • If 15Five MCP is turned off for the company, every connected person is disconnected automatically.
  • A connection left unused for more than 30 days stops working, and the person reconnects.
  • How an AI provider handles data sent to it is governed by your agreement with that provider.
