Manage groups and attributes
Groups and Attributes allow you to organize employee data strategically.
- Groups allow you to create subsets of people to organize your company based on business units, departments, locations, common interests, and more. These groups can be pulled into specific features across 15Five for segmenting, reporting, and filtering.
- Attributes are labels that can be applied to employees and typically contain sensitive information. Various reports in 15Five can be filtered by attributes to show you how employees in different segments of your organization are doing.
For more information about each of these options, check out our "People and data management options in 15Five" article and the sections below:
With groups and group types in 15Five, you can create subsets of people to organize your company based on business units, departments, locations, common interests, and more. They can be pulled into specific features across 15Five for segmenting, reporting, and filtering. You can see groups and group types in the "Manage groups" tab of the People Settings page.
- A group type is an umbrella label used to organize groups.
- A group is a subset of people in your organization made up of group members.
Here's an example: if you create a group type called 'Offices', you could create groups for each city your company has an office in: maybe Berlin, Denver, Madrid, New York, and Raleigh. Then, you'll add group members to the groups that align with their office location.
Refer to the articles below for information on creating and managing groups and group types:
Tip
If your organization uses an HRIS or other integration to manage groups, please refer to the integration-specific article for instructions on managing group types and groups.
Attributes are labels that can be applied to employees and typically contain sensitive information. Unlike groups, attribute visibility varies based on confidentiality level or set visibility settings. You can see employee attributes and associated viewing permissions in the "Attributes" tab of the People Settings page.
Refer to the articles below for more information about creating and managing attributes:
Note
Demographic attributes can be used to bring in more sensitive employee data that doesn't exist in 15Five by default: Birth date, Ethnicity, Gender, Race, & Salary. Only HR Admins can enable, populate, and view demographic attributes.
